Attorney's Fees

When one party makes significantly less money than the other party, the party earning less income may request a contribution to or payment of his or her attorney’s fees by the other party.  Like alimony, the requesting party must prove they cannot afford his or her attorney’s fees and have a need for assistance to pay the attorney’s fees.  Also, the requesting party must prove the other party has the ability to contribute to or pay his or her attorney’s fees.
